More about Matt
With considerable experience in both automotive PR, communications and events, as well as motoring journalism and the automotive retail sector, Matt started in corporate communications and publishing.
The move to the automotive industry in 2002 allowed Matt to indulge his passion for motoring, and he worked for both HR Owen and Stratstone in the retail sector covering Jaguar Land Rover product. However, a move to Haymarket publishing in 2005 allowed to incorporate his education in communications, publishing and journalism: starting as consumer reporter and ending as used car editor for What Car? He moved to the PR sector in 2011 and has worked as a senior team member with key clients including Bosch, Chevron, DAF, Lotus, Ferrari and Vauxhall.

Tim has served as Managing Director of Newspress for eight years, following a successful career in journalism and automotive PR. He has a broad sweep of automotive industry sector PR experience having held senior roles with both Hyundai UK and the IM Group. Tim oversees the operation of the entire Newspress and Newspress Creative business globally.

Mal started his career in regional journalism, working on newspapers across the UK for a number of years, before moving into automotive PR. Since then, he hasn’t looked back, working with many of the biggest brands in the industry – including FCA Group, Honda, Infiniti, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Renault and SEAT – on everything from internal communications and dealer PR to full-blown multi-channel campaigns and media launches. Outside work, Mal is a keen photographer, big football fan and lifelong Tottenham supporter.

Tim has a long, established career in journalism. He started out as a local newspaper journalist and then moved to national newspapers, magazines and websites. Prior to appointment at Newspress he was National Publications Manager for hibu, deputy editor at Parkers.co.uk, editor of 4Car.co.uk, deputy editor at What Car? magazine and editor of Motorsport News.
With more than 25 years’ experience as a journalist and a total of 12 years as an editorial manager in motoring and motorsport, he brings considerable expertise and knowledge to Newspress and supports the Newspress Creative division with editorial consultancy, writing and re-writing assistance. As chairman of the judging panel for the Automotive section of the CIPR awards for 2016, 2017 and 2018, he will be an arbiter of quality for all Newspress Creative content.
